Cacao or Theobroma Cacao refers to the scientific name for chocolate. Cacao is the main tree from which cocoa is extracted which is later used to make chocolate. This ingredient for deriving chocolate is mostly grown in the equatorial regions of the earth. Cacao is characterized by a brown color and a bitter taste. It is processed to get chocolate which is then used to make cakes, pastries, pies and brownies. This ingredient is also used to make hot chocolate beverages.
