World of Flavors Arepas with Cracklings / Arepas de Chicharrón
For this I used yellow masarepa.
2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
3 Cup (48 tbs) (yellow corn meal)
1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (For deep frying)
1. In a large bowl add in water, salt, masarepa and chicharrón. Mix all the ingredients with hands. Leave the dough for few minutes to hydrate.
2. Make the patties with the hands, as shown in the video.
3. In a wok heat the lard till smoking point and add in the patties. Cook for 5 minutes and repeat the process with rest of the patties.
4. Serve Arepas with Cracklings with juice.
