|Granulated sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Molasses||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
Have popcorn ready in large bowl.
You will need to pop 1/2 cup (125 mL) of kernels.
Do not salt.
Put sugar, water, molasses, vinegar and salt into heavy saucepan.
Heat and stir until it begins to boil.
Continue to cook without stirring to hard ball stage, 270°F (132°C), or until a bit dropped into ice water forms a hard ball that is pliable.
Remove from heat.
Stir in butter.
Pour over popcorn.
Stir until all kernels are coated.
With hands slightly buttered, form into 2 1/2 inch (6 cm) balls using only enough pressure to shape.
