Matzo or Matzah is a cracker flat bread made of flour and water. Matzo balls are prepared by cooking matzo with chicken or vegetable stock, seasonings and butter. This mixture is separated into balls and boiled in either water or chicken soup. These balls when served with chicken broth are called matzo ball soup.
