Pesto is a special kind of sauce which can be made by a number of methods. The basic ingredients of the pesto sauce is same; it is made from fresh basil leaves, garlic, salt, pine nuts, and grated hard cheese. All the ingredients are crushed and mixed very finely, and stirred in salt and pepper. Pesto sauce is best served with pasta; also served as a final flavor touch for soups like minestrone or zuppa di pesce. The sauce is also an excellent accomaniment to any grilled or poached chicken.
