Chicken Cacciatore or Hunter style chicken is an Italian dish. The word cacciatore means hunter in Italian. It is said that if a hunter came home empty handed at the end of the day, his wife would kill and cook a chicken for dinner. However, this is just one of the stories and the real source of the name has yet to be clearly established. The main ingredients in a Chicken Cacciatore are onions, tomatoes, wild mushrooms, herbs, zucchini, bell peppers, and wine. A Chicken Cacciatore may be served with spaghetti or any other pasta.
