Chili And Polenta Dumplings

Ingredients
  Ground beef/Ground pork 1 Pound
  Bulk italian sausage 1⁄2 Pound
  Chopped onions 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Canned tomatoes 28 Ounce, cut up
  Canned red kidney beans 15 1⁄2 Ounce
  Canned tomato sauce 8 Ounce
  Chopped green pepper 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Thinly sliced celery 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Chili powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Polenta dumplings 6
Directions

In Dutch oven cook meats and onion till meats are browned; drain off fat.
Stir in next 8 ingredients.
Cover; simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare polenta dumplings.
Bring meat mixture to boiling; drop dumpling mixture to make 8 mounds atop boiling mixture.
Cover; simmer about 12 minutes (do not lift cover).
If desired, sprinkle with 1/2 cup shredded monterey jack cheese.
