|Split peas||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Barley||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Red beans||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Cooked Separately)|
|Swiss chard leaves||2 Large, cut in small pieces|
|Carrots||2 , cut in small pieces|
|Celery stalks||3 , cut in small pieces|
|Onion||1 Large, chopped|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm), mashed|
|Tomatoes||2 , cut in quarters|
|Chopped parsley||2 Tablespoon|
1) In a pressure cooker add all the ingredients except the red beans alongwith 2 qts water.
2) Allow to cook at a pressure of 15 lbs for 35 mins, then let the pessure reduce gradually.
3) In a pan, cook the red beans and stir into the soup when ready to serve.
4) Pour in soup bowls and serve immediately.
