|Basil||1 Teaspoon, minced|
|Italian bread slices/8 to 10 of french bread||6 (1/2 Inch Thick)|
Mix together the tomatoes, olive oil.
garlic, minced basil, salt, and pepper.
Allow the mixture to stand at room temperature for about 1 hour, stirring once or twice.
Toast the bread until it's lightly browned.
Divide the tomato mixture among the slices, spreading it over the tops.
If desired, garnish each with a fresh basil leaf.
