|Bulk italian sausage||1⁄2 Pound|
|Chopped onion||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Tomato sauce||8 Ounce (1 can)|
|Dried basil||1⁄2 Teaspoon, crushed|
|Dried oregano||1⁄2 Teaspoon, crushed|
|English muffins/8 slices french bread, toasted||4 , split and toasted|
|Green pepper||1 Small, thinly sliced|
|Shredded mozzarella cheese||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
In skillet cook sausage or beef with onion till meat is browned; drain off fat.
Stir in tomato sauce, basil, oregano, and salt; cover and simmer about 10 minutes.
Spread toasted muffin halves or bread slices with meat mixture; top each with a green pepper ring or sliced green olives.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Place muffins on baking sheet.
Broil 4 inches from heat for 3 minutes or till cheese melts.
