Italian Sausage Sandwiches
|Italian sausage||1 Pound, sliced 1/4 inch|
|Spanish onion||1⁄2 , sliced and separated into rings|
|Thinly sliced green pepper strips||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Tomatoes||2 , peeled and cut into wedges|
|Dried whole oregano||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|French rolls||6 Large|
|Shredded mozzarella cheese||4 Ounce (About 1 Cup)|
|Shredded lettuce||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Brown sausage over medium heat, and drain well; add onion, green pepper, and tomato.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, about 7 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Remove from heat, and stir in oregano.
Heat rolls according to package directions; split in half, and set aside.
Spoon meat mixture on bottom half of each roll; sprinkle with cheese.
Bake at 400° for 2 minutes or until cheese melts.
Top each with lettuce and roll top.
