Combine milk, sugar, salt and shortening in saucepan.
Heat just until shortening is melted; cool until lukewarm.
Sprinkle the yeast into very warm water.
Put into large bowl.
Add lukewarm milk mixture, eggs & 2 cups flour.
Beat until smooth.
Add just enough of remaining flour to make soft dough.
Turn onto slightly-floured surface and knead into smooth dough - .about 5 minutes.
Place dough in large greased bowl.
Turn; cover and let rise in warm place for about 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down; knead again and let rise 5 minutes.
