Ven pongal is a South Indian breakfast dish. Main ingredients of ven pongal are rice and moong dal. Some like to add seasoning and spices after cooking rice and dal and in some recipes seasoning is added to uncooked rice and dal. The color of ven pongal depends upon the method of cooking. Milk can also be added to make ven pongal. It is served with coconut chutney and sambar.
