Onion Sabji

 

Onion sabji, also called as pyaaz ki sabji, is a simple dry curry made in Northern part of India. It is not always served as a main curry. It is also served as an accompaniment with the meal. It has a strong flavor of onion and Indian spices.

 

 

Ingredients and Preparation

 

Onion is the main ingredient for making onion sabji. Red onions, white onions, shallots or spring onions can be used. Indian spices like cumin, turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander seed powder are used.

Onion sabji is made in a kadhai. Oil is heated and cumin seeds are added. Onion and other spices are added and cooked till onion tastes cooked.

 

 

Serving

 

·         Onion sabji is served with hot rotis and phulkas.

·         It is also served as a healthier alternative to pickles.

·         The sabji can be served with curd or can be made as a raita.
