Dahi Chutney

 

Dahi Chutney is a popular side dish, made with strained yogurt, which is usually served with Hyderabadi Biryani. The dish is believed to have originated in the Nizam’s kitchen in Hyderabad and is equally popular in India and Pakistan.

 

Method of Preparation and Ingredients used in Dahi Chutney recipe

The basic ingredients of the this dish include- yogurt, green chilies, mint, and onion. Roasted and powdered cumin seeds and garlic are also sometimes added to enhance the flavor of the dish. Small Diced tomatoes are also an optional ingredient which may add to the flavor. To prepare the Dahi Chutney,  the salt, green chillies, mint, and onion are added to the yogurt and mixed well. Once the ingredients are mixed and blended well, the dish is garnished with coriander leaves. The chutney can be refrigerated and served chilled or at room temperature.

Storing Dahi Chutney

Dahi chutney should be stored in an air tight container and should be used in a day’s time as the yogurt has the tendency to become sour.
