My Mother's Halva
|Vegetable oil||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Crushed walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Honey||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Whole cloves||24 (2 Dozen)|
Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy saucepan over medium-high heat until a bit of flour sizzles when dropped in the oil.
Add a mixture of the flour and walnuts to the hot oil gradually, stirring constantly until smooth.
Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Add the honey and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
Fill a big soup spoon with the honey mixture and wrap a clean throwaway towel around the spoon and honey mixture; squeeze hard to draw out the excess oil.
Wipe off the outside of the spoon and slide the honey mixture into a mixture of the sugar and cinnamon, coating well.
Repeat the procedure to make 2 dozen pieces.
Press a clove in the center of each.
