Crunchy Okra With Onions

Ingredients
  Fresh okra 2 Cup (32 tbs) (sliced into two)
  Olive oil 1 Teaspoon
  Onion 2 Medium, finely sliced
  Lemon 1⁄2
  Cumin 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Turmeric powder 1 Teaspoon
  Chilly powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Garam masala 1 Teaspoon
  Salt To Taste
Directions

MAKING
1. In a frying pan over medium heat, pour olive oil and stir fry the onion until golden brown.
2. Add cumin, turmeric powder and red chilly powder and stir well with a wooden spatula. Let it cook for 5 minutes.
3. Add okra and salt, then stir well to mix with the other ingredients. Squeeze the juice of half lemon into the okra. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 20 minutes.
4. After 20 minutes add garam masala, stir well and cook for another 5-10 minutes.

SERVING
5. Serve fried okra with rice and dal.

Dry Spicy Okra's been my all-time favorite ! I really love the way you've slit okra longitudinally. We usually cut it into small pieces. I love this with roti too. That was for lunch in school. Keep coming up with more such delicious stuff.

i used to have this often when i lived in UP (India). Its so popular in north india... never tried this at home... but I'm tempted to! nice post!

Hey Ajoyprabhu93, Whenever i visited north india i found spicy bhindi very popular. I tasted it with tandoori roti and found very delicious. i never tried to cook this at my home. i will surely try for this and can you please post a video for tandoori roti too so that i can taste north indian food at my home completely. Thanks :)

Dry spicy okra is my favorite veggie and I do often cook it at home. Love to eat either with butter naan or tandoori roti...

She says Garam Masala, which is a variety of Indian masala that blends in a variety of spices. Garam masala is often used to give the dish spicy flavoring!

If the timings she gives on the video are right then the vegetables will be over-cooked.
