|Yellow split peas||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Boneless beef stew||1 Pound|
|Red chili pepper flakes||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground cumin||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground coriander||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Italian seasoning||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Heat 1 tbs. oil to smoking point; add chopped onion, stew pieces and brown meat until it loses its red color.
Add spices and dal or split peas.
Add 1 cup water and cook in a pressure cooker 15 minutes after pressure is built up.
If desired, add vegetables.
Cook for 2 or 3 minutes.
