1. In a pan heat oil and add cumin. Let it splutter.
2. Saute onion until translucent and then add tomato. Cook tomato until water evaporates.
3. Stir in ginger, garlic, coriander powder, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Mix well.
4. Add boiled dal, mix well and then pour water as needed.
5. Season with salt. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes.
