Sweet Green Tomato Pickles

  Green tomatoes 8 Pound
  Onions 6 Large
  Vinegar 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Brown sugar 3 Cup (48 tbs), firmly packed
  Salt 1 Tablespoon
  Cloves 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Mace 1 Teaspoon

Chop or grind tomatoes and onions, and bring to boil in their own juices.
Turn heat low, and simmer 30 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, and simmer, uncovered, until thick, stirring occasionally.
Ladle into hot sterilized jars, and seal.
Makes 8 pints.

My grandmother made green tomatoe and onion pickles. As i remeber she sliced both onoins and tom.I dont have the recipe and I always loved them. Never see them sold anywhere. Do you have a rcipe/ she was fro Canada

Dear Janet, You can chop OR grind the tomatoes depending upon if you like a chunky or smooth paste like pickle.
