Gahat Ki Dal

This dal has a warming effect on the body in cold winter days, and is prized for its medicinal value for the treatment of kidney stones.
Ingredients
  Gahat dal 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Horse gram)
  Powdered rice 1 Tablespoon (Leveled)
  Cumin seeds/Gandhreni 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Coriander powder 1 Teaspoon
  Red chili powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Asafoetida 1 Pinch
  Oil 1 Tablespoon (Leveled)
  Salt To Taste
  Ghee 1 Tablespoon (Leveled)
Directions

MAKING
1. In a pressure cooker, cook gahat dal with coriander powder, turmeric powder, chili powder and salt.
2. Make a paste of rice powder with little water and add it to the dal. Cook for some time by simmering.
3. In a pan, take heated oil and add asafoetida and cumin seeds or gandhareni. Allow to splutter and then add to boiling dal.
SERVING
4. The dal is served hot with rice/ roti and side dish such as badi ki subzi and bhang ki chutney.
