Sooji Halwa

TheEasyIndian's picture
Sooji Halwa is one of the best parts of any Indian celebration. It’s warm, tasty, and a great food for all ages. I made it for Diwali, Hindu New Year, and ate half the batch on my own. It’s really meant to be shared. It’s a wonderful dessert, and will warm you up on a rainy day. It’s also a fabulous pick-me up if you’re not feeling that great. The best part is that it is a super easy Indian recipe. So enjoy this recipe, but more importantly, enjoy the Halwa..
Sooji 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Semolina)
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Crushed cardamom seeds 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Almonds/Sliced for garnish 7 , crushed

Bring water, sugar, cardamom seeds to a boil and set aside.
Heat pan on medium, add butter and sooji and stir (semolina).
Stir regularly until sooji (semolina) is golden brown-about 6-8 minutes.
Turn heat to low and slowly stir in water mixture (be careful since it’ll splatter).
Cook for two minutes.
Garnish with almonds and serve.
