1 Wash and drain the garbanzo beans well.
2 In a pan, heat the oil.
3 Add in the asafoetida, cumin seeds, and besan. Cook, stirring until the besan is golden in color.
4 At this stage, pour in the tomato puree, ginger paste, green chili, turmeric powder, chili powder, and coriander powder.
5 Stir well to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
6 Cook the mixture until the oil starts separating.
7 Add in the garbanzo beans and stir well to coat them.
8 Sprinkle some salt for seasoning and mix well.
9 Pour in about 1/2 cup of water and simmer for 10 minutes.
10 Lightly crush the beans as shown in the video.
11 Sprinkle with garam masala and mix well.
