Basundi

This is a wonderful Indian dessert made with milk. It is a dense sweetened liquid made by boiling milk on low heat for a long time approximately 1 to 2 hours. It is served chilled and is often garnished with slices of pistachios or almonds. Basundi is a part of the menu in most Indian weddings.
Ingredients
Whole milk 4 Cup (64 tbs)
Half and half 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Granulated white sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (Adjust quantity as per taste)
  Toasted sliced almonds 4 Tablespoon
  Ground nutmeg 2 Pinch
  Coarsely ground cardamom 1 Teaspoon
Directions

In a heavy bottom pan, mix together milk and half and half and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally so that the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
Reduce the heat to medium low and let it simmer (stirring occasionally) for about one and half hour or until the mixture is reduced to half. In the meanwhile, toast the sliced almonds and let them cool.
Once the milk mixture reduces to half, add the ground cardamom, ground nutmeg, 1/2 cup of sugar (adjust the amount of sugar as per your taste).
Continue cooking & stirring the mixture for 10 more minutes.
Add the toasted sliced almonds. Let the mixture cool. Once it reaches room temperature, refrigerate and serve chilled.
Basundi is now ready.
