Amli Ne Machhi No Patio
|Pomfret/Any other fish /500 g prawns, shelled, cleaned and deveined||500 Gram, sliced half-inch thick through the bone|
|Garlic pod||1 Large|
|Turmeric powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Chilli powder/6 dried red chillies||2 Teaspoon|
|Cumin seeds||2 Teaspoon|
|Tamarind||10 Gram, infused in 2 cups water (the size of a lime without seeds or strings)|
|Vinegar||1 Tablespoon (for grinding)|
Wash fish, rub with a little salt and keep aside for half an hour.
Grind cumin seeds, garlic and red chillies in a little vinegar.
Add turmeric powder.
Rub half the ground spices on fish.
Heat oil in a pan and fry remaining spices.
Add fish and saute for a minute.
Strain tamarind water into pan, add sugar and salt and simmer on medium heat till fish is cooked and gravy is thick.
Serve with boiled rice and plain dal or rotlis or khichdi.
