Ingredients
  Split red gram 150 Gram
  Onion 50 Gram
  Mustard seeds 2 Gram
  Turmeric 2 Gram
  Chili powder 2 Gram
  Green chilies 4
  Tamarind 4 Gram
  Jaggery 2 Gram (Adjust Quantity As Per Taste)
  Garam masala 2 Gram
  Oil 30 Milliliter
  Salt To Taste
  Water 2 1⁄2 Liter (2 Liter Plus 1.5 Liter)
Directions

1. Clean, wash and soak the gram for half an hour and cook till soft. [Water amount (a) if chapaties are to be served with Amti; otherwise as given in (b).
2. Heat oil and add mustard seeds; when they crackle add slit green chillies and chopped onion. When the onion is tender add chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala.
3. Add the cooked gram, bring to boil, add tamarind juice, jaggery and salt.
