Hello Sarita, I agree with U. If we want to make it more healthy then boil medium or grill gobi florets and and then stir fry with little bit of oil and then follow the original recipe instead of deep frying. Thanks, Chandrika

You can use cauliflower mashed like potatoes and it is yummy. I use caulifower in a stirfry with brocolli, red bell peppers, onions, carrots and even Brussel Sprouts in any combination you like. I add seasonigs depending on the cuisine of the meal I am making-Thai, Chinese, Italian, Geek, Indian with or without chiles and often with fresh herbs. I use ither olive oil, vegeable oil, or peanut oil sgain depending on the cuisine. Sesame oil ad sesame seeds are a nice garnish too. Cauliflower is yummy roasted, also with a cheese sauce. Cauliflower i great with curries. Also raw thinly slice with brocolli it maks a yummy salad. I love cauliflower-only now it is expensive narly $4 for one small- to medium head. Shanti/Mary-Anne

May be you can chop some spring onions, stir-fry and use as garnish for that authentic manchurian look! I usually chop some onions. Heat oil in a wok and add a little sugar, once the sugar caramelizes, add the chopped onions and saute, then add the deep-fried cauliflower florets; The caramelized substance coats some parts of the cauliflower giving it a slightly crunchy texture.

Will surely try that the next time I prepare gobi manchurian. I too use spring onions but I didn't have any yesterday. Thanks a lot for your comments.

Hi Sarita, I tried this recipe and it came out really good, I just added a tsp of red chilli sauce too when mixing with other flours and then deep fried them, and garnished with spring onion at last. Thanks for the tasty dish.
