Ingredients
  Lemon juice/Null 1 Pint (Null)
  Sugar syrup/Null 1 Pint (Null)
  Sugar/Null 1 Pound (Null)
  Rum/Null 1 1⁄4 Pint (Null)
  Water/Null 2 Pint (Null)
  Grated nutmeg/Null 1 Teaspoon (Null)
  Angostura bitters/Null 3 (Null)
Directions

Make syrup; combine water and sugar in saucepan.
Bring to boil, stir to dissolve sugar; cool.
Mix all ingredients together lightly.
Add a few drops of angostura bitters to give a light pink tint.
Refrigerate until well chilled.
Put a spoonful of crushed ice in each glass, pour in punch.
Top each glass with grated nutmeg.
A maraschino cherry can be added.
