Assamese Mustard Fish
|Hilsa/Any firm white fish||8|
|Yellow mustard seeds||3 Tablespoon, soaked for 3 - 4 hours|
|Onion paste||1 Tablespoon|
|Green chili||4 (According To Taste)|
|Turmeric powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Lemon juice||1 Teaspoon|
|Mustard seeds||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Water||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Mustard oil||4 Tablespoon|
1.Marinate fish in 1/2 Tsp of turmeric powder ,lemon juice and salt for 15 minutes.Heat oil in a wok and fry fish till golden.Keep aside.
2.Grind to a fine paste the soaked mustard seeds, 2 green chilies and 1/2 Tsp salt with a little water.Mix well and keep aside.
3.Heat 2 Tbs oil in in a separate pan. Add 1/2 Tsp mustard seeds
and 2 green chili.Saute a few seconds taking care not to burn the seeds
4.Add the onion paste and 1/2 Tsp turmeric powder .Saute slightly then add mustard paste and bring to boil adding 1 cup of water.
5.Reduce heat, simmer for about ten minutes or until gravy thickens to a desired consistency. Add the fish and simmer till done
6.Remove from heat. Add 1 tbs raw mustard oil (optional)
Serve hot with rice.
