Dried lentils/Yellow / green split peas / mack-eyed peas
1 Cup (16 tbs), picked-over and washed
1 Clove (5 gm), finely chopped
Brown sugar/Molasses / honey
1. Bring the broth to a boil in a kettle and add the bay leaf, salt, and lentils. Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
2. Add the remaining ingredients. Stir to mix well and cook for 5 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
