Sweet And Sour Lentils

|Vegetable broth/Chicken broth||2 Cup (32 tbs) (Homemade)|
|Bay leaf||1 , crushed|
|Dried lentils/Yellow / green split peas / mack-eyed peas||1 Cup (16 tbs), picked-over and washed|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm), finely chopped|
|Ground cloves||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
|Grated nutmeg||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
|Vegetable oil||3 Tablespoon|
|Apple cider||3 Tablespoon|
|Cider vinegar||3 Tablespoon|
|Brown sugar/Molasses / honey||3 Tablespoon|
1. Bring the broth to a boil in a kettle and add the bay leaf, salt, and lentils. Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
2. Add the remaining ingredients. Stir to mix well and cook for 5 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
