Sweet And Sour Lentils

Ingredients
  Vegetable broth/Chicken broth 2 Cup (32 tbs) (Homemade)
  Bay leaf 1 , crushed
  Salt To Taste
  Dried lentils/Yellow / green split peas / mack-eyed peas 1 Cup (16 tbs), picked-over and washed
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), finely chopped
  Ground cloves 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Grated nutmeg 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Vegetable oil 3 Tablespoon
  Apple cider 3 Tablespoon
  Cider vinegar 3 Tablespoon
  Brown sugar/Molasses / honey 3 Tablespoon
Directions

1. Bring the broth to a boil in a kettle and add the bay leaf, salt, and lentils. Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
2. Add the remaining ingredients. Stir to mix well and cook for 5 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
