This Tuvar Dal is a temptation you'll die for ! I love this irresistibly seasoned red gram dal with Indian breads and rice . Try this Tuvar Dal and let me know if you're of the same opinion as I am about this.
  Split red gram 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Also Called Tuvar Dal)
  Finely chopped ginger 1 Tablespoon
  Finely chopped tomato 1
  Slit green chillies 2
  Turmeric powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Asafoetida 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Cumin seeds 1 Teaspoon
  Mustard seeds 1 Teaspoon
  Oil 2 Tablespoon
  Jaggery 1 Tablespoon
  Lemon 1 Teaspoon (About A Squeeze)
  Water 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Salt To Taste

Soak the split red gram or tuvar dal in water for about an hour.
To the soaked dal, add turmeric powder and a drop of oil.
Add salt according to taste.
Heat this mixture on medium flame and wait for it to come to a boil.
Then reduce the flame and cook it for about 20 minutes more.
The gram is now fully cooked.
Heat oil in another pan till it gets very hot.
Drop in the mustard seeds and then the cumin seeds along with the asafoetida.
Stir fry on medium flame for about 2 minutes.
When the seeds splutter, pour it over the cooked red gram.
Wait for it to simmer.
Add the remaining ingredients and boil for about 10 minutes.
