Sambar

Sambmar is very common south indian dish. The drumsticks and peppercorns gives the Sambmar a divine taste. Must catch it.
Ingredients
  Arhar dal 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), washed (Tuvar Dal)
  Turmeric powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Brinjal 1 , cut into cubes
  Potato 1 , cut into cubes
  Onion 1 , cut into cubes
  Drumstick 1 , cut into 1 inch pieces
  Peppercorns 6
  Salt To Taste
  Oil 1 Tablespoon
  Fenugreek seeds 1 Teaspoon (Methi Seeds)
  Cumin seeds 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Mustard seeds 1 Teaspoon
  Red chilies 2 , broken
  Curry leaves 4
  Coriander powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Fresh cilantro sprigs 2 (Coriander)
  Tomato 1 , cut into 8 pieces
  Tamarind pulp 1 Tablespoon
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Microwave in a deep bowl dal, turmeric powder and two cups of water at medium 50% power for 40 minutes.
Let it stand for 5 minutes.
Stir in cubed vegetables, drumstick and peppercorns, and microwave covered for 15 minutes at medium 50% power.
Mix in salt.
In a skillet heat oil over the stove, add fenugreek, cummin and mustard seeds.
When they splutter, add red chillies, curry leaves and coriander powder and pour into the dal (sambhar) mixture.
Microwave at medium 50% power for 5 minutes stirring in between.
Add coriander leaves and let it stand for 3 minutes.
Stir in the rest of the ingredients, tomato, tamarind pulp and one cup water and microwave for 3 minutes.
Vadas, Uttapam, Dosas or even just boiled rice with pickle.
