Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons cornstarch in a heavy saucepan.
Add 1 package (12 ounces) frozen blueberries.
Cook and stir until thick.
Stir in 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 tablespoon butter.
Set aside to cool.
