Strawberry Ice Cream

Ingredients
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Unflavored gelatin 1 1⁄4 Teaspoon (1/2 Envelope)
  Light cream 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Slightly beaten egg 1
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Dash
  Fresh strawberries 1 Quart
  Sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Directions

Combine first 2 ingredients.
Add half the cream.
Stir over low heat till gelatin dissolves.
Slowly stir a small amount of hot mixture into egg; mix well.
Return to remaining hot mixture; cook and stir till mixture thickens slightly (about 1 minute).
Chill.
Add remaining cream, vanilla, and dash salt.
Crush berries with 3/4 cup sugar and add to the chilled mixture.
Freeze in ice cream freezer according to manufacturer's directions.
Let ripen about 4 hours.
