Fried Deviled Dogs
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Vegetable shortening||1 Tablespoon, melted|
|Sifted flour||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Dry mustard||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Red pepper||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
|Fine dry bread crumbs||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Vegetable shortening||2 Cup (32 tbs) (For Deep Frying)|
Beat egg slightly; add milk and melted vegetable shortening.
In mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and seasonings.
Add egg mixture; beat well.
Cut franks into 1 inch pieces.
Dip in crumbs, then in batter.
Fry in deep vegetable shortening heated to 375° until browned.
