Cream butter and sugar, add beaten egg and flour alternately to make a smooth dough.
It may not be necessary to use all the egg.
Knead well then divide the dough into three portions and work a different flavouring into each.
Roll into small balls and group one ball of each flavour together.
Put on to a greased tray and press flat to form a clover leaf shape.
Bake in a moderately hot oven, Mark 5, 375°F, for 10 to 15 minutes.
Cool on a wire tray.
