Delicious Baked Ham Slice
|Center cut ham||1 , sliced 1 1/2 inches thick (ready to serve)|
|Light brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Dry mustard||1 Teaspoon|
|Fresh ground pepper||1 Dash|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs) (adjust quantity as needed)|
Combine sugar, flour, mustard, and pepper, and spread half on the slice of ham.
Sprinkle with vinegar and let stand 30 minutes.
Place ham slice, treated side down, in a buttered shallow casserole, and spread the other side with the rest of the sugar mixture and a few drops of vinegar.
Bake the ham slice in a hot oven, 425°, 15 minutes.
Pour in the water, reduce heat to 375°, and bake 1 hour.
When the ham is done, remove it to a warmed platter, add a cup or so of milk to the sauce in the pan, and stir until smooth over low heat.
Serve the sauce with the ham.
