Spicy Cherry Ham Slices

Ingredients
1 (19-oz) can cherry pie filling
1 cup dry red or white wine or apple juice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
Whole cloves
2 centre-cut raw or cooked ham slices, 3/4 inch thick
Dry mustard
Sliced or slivered nuts
Directions

Heat the pie filling, wine and spices together, stirring well to dilute evenly.
Stick edges of the ham with whole cloves and rub with dry mustard.
Place 1 slice in a small shallow bake pan.
Top with cherries lifted out of the wine-sauce mixture with a slotted spoon.
Cover with second ham slice, then pour wine sauce over the top.
If raw ham is used bake at 350F for about 1 hour, basting the ham with the sauce two or three times.
For cooked ham slices, bake about 45 minutes or until heated through.
Garnish with sliced nuts.
Serve with whipped or scalloped potatoes or candied yams and Brussels sprouts.
