Ham Steak With Red Eye Gravy
|Firmly packed dark brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Strong black coffee||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Boiled ham slice||1 (1/2 Inch Thick)|
|Butter/Margarine||1 Tablespoon (For Brushing Grill)|
Melt butter in saucepan.
Whisk sugar into pan, cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar melts.
Stir in coffee, simmer 4 minutes.
Gravy will be red-brown in color.
Set gravy aside.
Cut ham into 2-inch slices.
Preheat stovetop grill.
Brush grill surface with butter.
Grill ham over medium-high heat about 1 minute on each side.
Ham will brown slightly and be warm.
Remove ham to individual plates.
Drizzle with hot red-eye gravy.
Good with grilled apples and baked beans.
