Caramelized Ham With Walnuts

  Ham slices 2 Pound
  Vinegar 2 Teaspoon
  Dark brown sugar 2 Tablespoon
  Walnuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped
  Salad oil 2 Tablespoon
  Boiling water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Sherry 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)

Rub ham-slice surfaces with vinegar and sugar.
Let stand 15 minutes.
Lightly toast walnuts in oil in a large frying pan; remove with a slotted spoon.
Over high heat, quickly brown ham on both sides in the hot oil. (The caramelizing of the sugar is important to the color and flavor.) Add toasted walnuts, boiling water, and Sherry.
Cook slowly uncovered until liquid has almost evaporated and ham is tender
