Kourabiedes are a traditional Greek cookie made for special occasions like Christmas. They are butter cookies covered with icing sugar and are a favourite among Greeks. This recipe makes a huge amount of cookies (about 8 dozen), so feel free to cut the recipe in half or simply give them away to loved ones as gifts!
Ingredients
  Egg yolks 6
  Unsalted butter 2 Pound
  Crisko 1 Pound
  Icing sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Almonds 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Ouzo 2 Tablespoon
  Vanilla 2 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 2 Tablespoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Flour 10 Cup (160 tbs)
  Rose water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
2) In a large bowl take butter and blend.
3) Put icing sugar and toasted almonds in the mixture.
4) Add egg yolks.
5) Pour ouzo, vanilla followed by baking powder and baking soda.
6) Add flour and continue to mix with the electric blender. Your dough is ready.

MAKING
7) Knead dough with hands.
8) Shape the dough with the help of a cookie cutter.
9) In a cookie sheet bake cookies for 15 minutes on 300 degrees.

FINALISING
10) When the cookie is ready sprinkle rose water, and let them cool.
11) Take a bowl of icing sugar and dust the cookie.

SERVING
12) Serve cookies with coffee or tea.
