Lamb Pita Sandwich

Greek-Style Gyros on Pita, with homemade Tzatziki Sauce

Ingredients

Lean ground lamb 1 Pound
Garlic cloves 2 , chopped
Dried oregano 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Minced onion 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Pepper 1 Teaspoon
Crushed mint 1 Tablespoon
Cucumber 1 Medium , seeded and finely chopped
Plain yogurt 8 Ounce
Lemon 1/2 , freshly squeezed
Pepper 1/2 Teaspoon
Dill 2 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY

1) Preheat the broiler.

MAKING

2) In a large bowl, combine all the Gyro ingredients together, mix thoroughly

3) Shape the lamb mixture into two 1/2 inch thick patties.

4) Broil on "low" for about 8 to 10 minutes until done.

5) Then remove from the broiler and slice each patty into fine strips.

FINALIZING

6) In a bowl, combine all the Tzatziki Sauce ingredients for the sauce together, mix thoroughly.

SERVING

7) Serve immediately with shredded lettuce, tomato and onion.
