Greek Honey Walnut Cake
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Finely chopped walnuts||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Honey syrup||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (adjust quantity as needed)|
Heat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches.
Beat all ingredients except walnuts and Honey Syrup in small mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 1 minute.
Stir in walnuts.
Pour into pan.
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool cake in pan about 30 minutes.
Prepare Honey Syrup.
Cut top of cake into diamond pattern; pour syrup evenly over top of cake.
