|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Self rising flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Eggs||4 Large, separated|
|Syrup||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (adjust quantity as needed)|
Cream butter well, add sugar, and cream until light and fluffy.
Add egg yolks and beat well.
Stir in flour, mixing until batter is smooth after each addition.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Turn batter into a greased 8 X 12 inch pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
Remove from oven and, while hot, pour over hot syrup.
Syrup: Combine 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, and lemon juice and cinnamon to taste.
Bring to a boil and boil for 10 minutes.
