Ingredients
  New orleans molasses 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Oil 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs), boiling
  Flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs), unsifted
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
Directions

GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 350°F.

MAKING
2) In a large bowl, combine the first 7 ingredients.
3) Stir in the boiling water.
4) Gradually add the unsifted flour.
5) In 2 tablespoons of hot water, dissolve the baking soda and add to batter.
6) Into a greased cake pan, pour the batter.
7) Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

SERVING
8) Cool completely, decorate and serve.
