Maple Flavored Gingerbread

Ingredients
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Soda 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Ground ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Ground cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Maple flavored syrup 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Hot water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Whipped cream 4 Tablespoon
Directions

Combine flour, soda, spices, and salt; set aside.
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg, beating well.
Gradually beat in molasses and syrup.
Add dry ingredients alternately with hot water, beating well after each addition.
Pour batter intogrcased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.
Cool thoroughly in pan.
Serve with whipped cream.
