Sour'Creamy Sauerkraut

Ingredients
  Butter/Margarine / oil 3 Tablespoon
  Onion 1 , chopped
  Sauerkraut 1 Pound (Undrained)
  Ground black pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt To Taste
  Sour cream 4 Tablespoon
Directions

Melt shortening in medium skillet and lightly brown onion.
Add sauerkraut, stirring to mix; cover skillet.
Simmer for 1 hour.
Uncover pan.
Drain off excess liquid.
Add pepper and salt if needed.
Just before serving, stir in sour cream.
