Pork Hocks With Sauerkraut

Ingredients
  Pork hocks 3 Pound
  Hot water 8 Cup (128 tbs)
  Chopped onion 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Salt 1 Tablespoon
  Mixed pickling spice 1 Tablespoon
  Sauerkraut/1 small cabbage, cut in wedges 28 Ounce
Directions

Scrub pork hocks thoroughly.
Cover with water; add onion, salt and spices.
Cover tightly and simmer 1 1/2—1 3/4 hours.
Skim oft' fat.
Strain cooking liquid.
Return 1 cup liquid to saucepan.
Arrange sauerkraut or cabbage around hocks.
Simmer 10—12 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
Drain, and serve hocks surrounded by vegetable on hot platter.
