Pork Hocks With Sauerkraut
|Pork hocks||3 Pound|
|Hot water||8 Cup (128 tbs)|
|Chopped onion||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Mixed pickling spice||1 Tablespoon|
|Sauerkraut/1 small cabbage, cut in wedges||28 Ounce|
Scrub pork hocks thoroughly.
Cover with water; add onion, salt and spices.
Cover tightly and simmer 1 1/2Ã¢â‚¬â€1 3/4 hours.
Skim oft' fat.
Strain cooking liquid.
Return 1 cup liquid to saucepan.
Arrange sauerkraut or cabbage around hocks.
Simmer 10Ã¢â‚¬â€12 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
Drain, and serve hocks surrounded by vegetable on hot platter.
