Banana Bavarian Pie
|Melted butter/Margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Crushed chocolate cookie crumbs||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Unflavored gelatin||1 Tablespoon|
|Cold water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Mashed bananas||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Lemon juice||3 Tablespoon|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Heavy cream||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
Combine butter and cookie crumbs.
Reserve 1/3 cup of this mixture.
Press remaining cookie mixture into bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan.
Soften gelatine in cold water; dissolve over hot water.
Beat egg whites until stiff; add gelatine slowly, beating until mixture stands in peaks.
Combine bananas, lemon juice, sugar and salt.
Fold in egg whites and whipped cream.
Pour mix- ture into chocolate cookie crust.
Sprinkle reserved crumbs over top of pie.
Chill until firm.
Makes one 9-inch pie.
