Rhineland Sweet Sour Red Cabbage
|Bacon slices||4 , diced|
|Brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Vinegar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Head red cabbage||8 Cup (128 tbs), shredded|
|Onion||1 Small, finely chopped|
Cook bacon in skillet or slow-cooking pot with browning unit.
Set bacon aside.
Combine 1 tbs.of bacon drippings in slow-cooking pot with sugar, flour, salt, and pepper.
Stir in water and vinegar; add cabbage and onion.
Cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours.
Spoon into serving bowl; sprinkle cooked bacon on top.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
